Review Request Email Examples

Last updated: October 4, 2026

These review request email examples cover the emails an online store sends after delivery: the first product review request, one reminder, photo and video requests, a private note for unhappy customers, a thank-you once a review is live and a store review request. Every template comes with its subject, preview line, full copy and timing, counted from the day the order arrives.

Running a WooCommerce store?

We set up and run flows like this one for you, triggered by your store's order and customer data, and improve them every month.

Product Review Request Emails

The first ask, sent once the customer has had time to actually use what they bought. Keep it short, easy to answer and open to honest criticism.

Star Rating Review Request

Subject: How would you rate your [product name], [first name]?
Preview: Tap a star to begin. Three quick prompts inside if you want to add more.
Hi [first name],
Now that your [product name] has been with you for [number] days, we'd love to know how it's going.
Would you rate it for other shoppers? Pick a star rating below, then add a line or two if something comes to mind:
Is the quality what you expected for the price?
Would you buy it again?
What's one thing you'd change?
We post every review we receive, the lukewarm ones included.
[Write Your Review]
Thanks so much,
[Store name]
Trigger from the carrier's delivered status: 5 days after delivery for simple items, 14 days for anything that needs a proper try. Hold it while a return is open.

Plain-Text Note From the Owner

Subject: From [owner name]: a quick ask about your order
Preview: No survey or star grid. Just a request for a few honest lines about the [product name].
Hi [first name],
This is [owner name]. I run [Store name], and I'm the one who reads replies to these emails.
We don't spend much on advertising, so reviews from real customers do a lot of our persuading for us. Could you spare a few lines about your [product name]? Love it, like it or have doubts, all of it helps someone decide.
And if something's wrong with it, reply to this email as well. It lands in my inbox and I'll deal with it myself.
[Leave a Review]
Thanks for supporting us,
[owner name]
[Store name]
Use as the first request on a customer's first order, 7 days after delivery. Send it as plain text from the owner's name, with replies going to an inbox someone reads.

First Reviews for a New Product

Subject: Be one of the first to review [product name]
Preview: It's new, so its page has only a handful of reviews. Yours will be read closely.
Hi [first name],
[product name] only launched on [date], and you were among the first people to order it.
Its product page has only a handful of reviews so far, so what you write will be read closely, both by shoppers deciding whether to try it and by the team who designed it.
We'd like the full picture: what works, what doesn't and what you'd change in the next batch.
[Review the New Product]
Thanks for being an early customer,
[Store name]
Ten days after delivery, email everyone who bought a product during its first month on sale. Stop once that product has 10 published reviews.

Review Reminder Emails

One reminder, sent once, only to customers who haven't reviewed yet. Pick the version that suits your products. A second reminder starts to feel like pressure.

One-Tap Rating Reminder

Subject: Quick one: how many stars for [product name]?
Preview: A star rating on its own counts as a review. This is the only reminder we'll send.
Hi [first name],
A few days ago we asked about your [product name]. No problem if that email got buried.
If you have ten seconds, choose a star rating below. That's all it takes. If a sentence comes to mind, add it, but it's optional.
After this, we'll leave you in peace.
[Choose a Rating]
Thanks,
[Store name]
Send once, 5 to 7 days after the first request, to customers who haven't reviewed or replied. End the flow there, whatever they do next.

Reminder With Writing Prompts

Subject: Not sure what to write? Pick one question
Preview: Three prompts about your [product name]. One sentence on any of them is a great review.
Hi [first name],
Lots of people mean to write a review, then face an empty box and give up. So here's a shortcut. Answer any one of these in a sentence, and that's your review:
What made you choose the [product name]?
What surprised you once you started using it, good or bad?
Who would you recommend it to, and who should skip it?
That's it. We won't send another reminder after this one.
[Answer One Question]
Thank you,
[Store name]
Use as the single reminder 7 days after the first request, for customers who clicked through but never submitted a review. They meant to, and a prompt helps.

Reward for Any Honest Review

Subject: [reward] for your review, whatever you rate it
Preview: Any length, any rating. Here's how it works and how we label rewarded reviews.
Hi [first name],
We'd still love to hear what you think of your [product name], and we'd like to thank you for your time.
Write a review of any length and any rating, and we'll send you [reward] once it's published. A critical review earns exactly the same as a glowing one, and we publish everything except spam and abuse.
Reviews written with a reward carry a small note on our site, so other shoppers know.
[Write My Honest Review]
With appreciation,
[Store name]
Send once, 7 days after the first request, to customers who haven't reviewed. Use it only for reviews on your own site, since major review platforms prohibit incentives.

Photo and Video Review Emails

For products that photos don't fully explain: fit, movement, sound or visible results. Send one of these in place of the standard request, never in addition to it.

Fit Photo Review Request

Subject: How does it fit? Show us in one photo
Preview: Faces optional. Your height and size help the next person order the right fit.
Hi [first name],
Would you review your [product name] with a photo?
For clothing, one quick mirror shot shows what product photos can't: how it hangs, where it sits on you and how the color looks in everyday light. Feel free to crop your face out.
If you can, add your height and the size you ordered. That one line could save the next shopper a return.
[Add a Photo Review]
Cheers,
[Store name]
Use in place of the standard request for clothing and shoes, 10 days after delivery. Leave out anyone whose return or exchange is still open.

Short Video Review Request

Subject: Would you film 20 seconds of your [product name]?
Preview: No talking or editing needed. Shoppers want to see it working in a real home.
Hi [first name],
Some things are hard to judge from photos: how it folds, how loud it is, how long setup really takes. A short clip from a real customer answers those questions better than anything we could film ourselves.
If you're up for it, record 10 to 30 seconds of your [product name] in use and upload it with your review. Your phone is plenty, and vertical video is fine.
Only include what you're comfortable sharing publicly.
[Upload a Video Review]
Thanks for considering it,
[Store name]
Two weeks after delivery, use this instead of the standard request for products with moving parts, sound or setup steps. Ask each customer for a video only once.

Before and After Photo Request

Subject: Before and after: would you share yours?
Preview: Two photos of the same spot, taken weeks apart. Nothing staged or filtered.
Hi [first name],
Your [product name] has been in use for roughly [number] weeks, which is usually long enough to see a difference.
If you took a photo before you started, would you add it to your review alongside one from today? Same spot and similar light if you can, and no filters.
Real results help other people set honest expectations, so a modest change is just as useful to share as a dramatic one.
[Share Your Photos]
Warmly,
[Store name]
Send 4 to 6 weeks after delivery for products with visible results, like cleaning, garden or storage items. Suggest taking a 'before' photo in your delivery email.

Follow-Up and Store Review Emails

Emails that come after the first ask: a private note when a customer sounds unhappy, a thank-you once their review is live, and a separate request to review the store itself.

Private Reply for Unhappy Customers

Subject: Let's sort out the problem with your [product name]
Preview: Reply with what happened and I'll handle it myself within one business day.
Hi [first name],
Thanks for your message about the [product name]. It sounds like it hasn't worked out the way you hoped, and I'm sorry.
Could you reply and tell me a bit more? What went wrong, and what would put it right for you? We can send a replacement, refund you or walk you through a fix.
Whether you review it is completely up to you. If you do, it will be published as written.
[Reply to This Email]
Best,
[your name]
[Store name]
Send by hand within one business day when a reply or support message sounds unhappy. Pause their review reminder until it's resolved, but don't exclude them from future review requests.

Review Published With Our Reply

Subject: Your review is up, and we wrote back
Preview: Thanks for reviewing the [product name]. Our reply sits right under yours.
Hi [first name],
We just published what you wrote about [product name], word for word. We're grateful you took the trouble.
Our team added a short public reply below it: [one-line summary of your reply, such as an answer to their question or what you're changing]. If you'd prefer to talk it over privately, reply here.
Reviews like yours are what new customers read before they buy, and they're the most direct feedback our team gets.
[Read Our Reply]
With thanks,
[Store name]
Send within a day of a review going live, whatever its star rating, once someone on your team has written a short public reply to it.

Store Experience Review Request

Subject: Not the product this time: how was shopping with us?
Preview: Delivery, packaging, help when you needed it. Rate the whole experience on [review site].
Hi [first name],
This one isn't about your [product name]. It's about everything around it: how easy our site was to use, how quickly your order arrived and how we handled any questions.
Reviews on [review site] are often the first thing people check before buying from a shop they don't know, so an honest account from a real customer carries a lot of weight for a small business like ours. Good or bad, we read every one.
[Write a Store Review]
Thanks either way,
[Store name]
Send 21 days after the first order arrives, to all customers rather than just those you expect to be happy, and a week clear of any product review email.
